CGI Tornado created from following a very helpful tutorial by CG GEEK on youtube, really easy to follow along and the end result is worth the time. The first video is the result of following the tutorial and i just added in a basic scene for the tornado to be in, the aim was purely to showcase the tornado simulation. The second video I spent some more time on the scene, added some abandoned cars courtesy of a handy model set from turbosquid (https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/free-weathered-ruins-bus-truck-3d-model/668298). Added in some trees, which at first i was unsure with, was not sure how to get them to move with the wind, but thanks to the sapling apps armature feature it was quick and easy to add a nice wind effect to the trees. The finnal addition was the farm windmill, nice little model found on CGTrader (https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/exterior/industrial/wind-mill--2) Modified it so that the blades can turn and spin in the wind.
All together i am very happy with how this has turned out, it has taken a bit of a toll on my computer, baking the simulation took nearly 24 hours for the second scene and then rendering was something like 30 hours in total, definetly worth it though. Think it will be a while before i do another particle sim, but this was fun to work on, let me know what you think in the comments.
