Handwritten Movie Script Poster: The Last Samurai (2003)

Custom handwritten poster featuring every spoken word from The Last Samurai (2003). The design includes 5,128 English words across 131 lines, written out by hand using a graphics tablet over roughly 18 hours.

This piece was approached differently from my usual script posters. To include as much Japanese dialogue as possible, both English and Japanese subtitle files were used, with timestamps matched to position the Japanese lines accurately within the layout. Where the film provides on-screen subtitles, those Japanese lines have been included. Where subtitles simply stated “speaks in Japanese”, lines were either omitted or interpreted as accurately as possible based on available references.

Due to the limitations of word count tools, the 5,128 word count reflects English dialogue only and does not include the additional Japanese text included throughout the poster.
